How is parvo spread or contagious?

Parvo is from the stool, but like most dogs they like to lick themselves. This means the virus can get on their tongue, then on whatever they have licked. I don't know what to disinfectant with but do not do bleach. I had a bad experience when I was young trying to clean a carpet with bleach and it left a huge white area stained.
