In Death Note (episode 19), how come Shuichi Aizawa's daughter says "mamma" and "papa"?

Shouldn't she say "otou-san" (or "chichi") (father) and "oka-san" (mother)? Even Light says it. Since when did the Japanese became French (or European, for the record)?
